From key to first file

1
Create an access key

In Access Keys. Copy it right away: it is shown only once.

2
Upload a file

Send it with the X-API-Key header, or use Upload here.

3
Share a public link

Upload with category=public to get a /f/<id> link anyone can open.

4
Give each company its own key

Your backend calls POST /api/service/keys; each key only sees its own files.

Replace sk_... with one of your access keys.

File Browser

Paste an access key to see exactly the files that key can reach, as its app would.

The key stays in this tab only and is sent without your admin session, so the list is limited to what the key itself may see.

Access Keys

Keys let apps call the API from anywhere with the X-API-Key header.

Create a key

Choose what it can do, then copy it once
Can

Copy this key now. It is shown only once and can't be recovered.

Next: put it on your server
Check that it works
The check shows the key's type, permissions and folders. Full guide: API Docs → Service keys.

How keys work

Read the guide
1
Create

Pick a type and what it can do. Least access is safest: a server that only shows files needs only Read.

2
Store it on the server

In an environment variable such as BITSTATIC_KEY. Never in browser or mobile code, never in git.

3
Call the API

Send X-API-Key on every request. Same endpoints for every key type.

4
Rotate or revoke

Rotate gives a new secret; the old one works 24 h more. Revoke stops it at once.
